Super weird. Hard to support it without any information on what is going on with the service. Maybe its a good time for posters to get and move their information off?
So far enjoying the new platform and contributions. Takes a while to get momentum but with a streamlined process for contributing I hope this forum takes the audience.

Hi All,
I was able to connect with the current administrator who provided site credentials. After resolving an issue with a depreciated software package it came back up, the underlying software and DB will need an upgrade and I will do my best to address user access in the coming days/weeks. I don't see a great way to transition the underlying to a new platform but will do my best to keep it running in the near term. Open to ideas and or other folks technical expertise.

Why not simply have a link on the top of the FreeForums for "archived posts" to the WaterPolo Planet forums and vice versa. Put a post on WPP that new contributors move to new forum. We could move some of the top posts pretty easily with the freshest data also. Moving the users over should be very easy.
Maintaining a forum and a database is a LOT of work and patching is a PIA and can take hours a week. The new site is nice as it looks 100% hosted and ran as a service and they handle all of the work on that. I am happy to help whoever runs WPP to minimum create a backup from the database.
Sidenote: I am crawling the site right now and am currently at 35,000 posts downloaded and 52,000 files and it is still going.

Of course! I knew that had to be it.  wapodad, you're hired. This is great news. As I've said, this site was intended to fill a void. I'm happy to keep this going or shut it down. There is no need for two forums. WPP did revive for a few days a month or so ago, but this sounds like it's more stable as waterpolodad has some real access. Let's just see what happens over the next few days or weeks. |

Another problem with WPP is that they don't create new users, I have spoken to a number of parents that have tried to create accounts and were never created. Newest member on the board is still coachanderson8 for almost a year. Attempting the "contact us" link has not helped.
When you look at the "Who is online" section it shows 160 users with 1 registered and 159 guests....that is not normal in forum boards.
Moderating/managing a board is a lot of work and time commitment...the workload should be balanced between multiple admins/moderators.

Agreed. Its nice to participate and see others participate. It would be frustrating to go back to WPP and keep the old way of adding no one new.

Hi All, Quick update on WPP message board. ALthough I was able to restore the message board but there are still user and admin issues that prevent user logins and user creation. I have not had time to address in the last week but will work on it later this week. Apologize for the delay.

Since we seem to have some momentum why not just move the WPP planet users over to this one? Then we get the benefit of their amazing contributions and the newer, more stable, scaleable, platform.

I reached out to the current owner/admin of WPP to help restore the current platform. I believe it would be disingenuous to work on decommissioning the platform when it was his intent to keep the platform running. I'm sure with some effort the message board of WPP could be restored and maybe over time the current owner would look at a future where the platforms are brought together.
